What is the 48 Hour Film Project?

Filmmaking teams have just one weekend to make a short film. All films must contain the 2008 Special Ingredients and conform to the team's random genre - discovered just moments before the 48 hour countdown begins! See our Brisbane Rules for more details.

With no age or budget limit, teams are welcome from high school students to industry professionals and have just 48 hours to make a film - this competition is a truly level playing field for all filmmakers. All films are guaranteed a screening at a genuine cinema for all their friends, family, cast, crew and general public.

The 48 Hour Film Project is the only competition in the world with truly international connections! Our winning team joins the World Best of 48 Hour Competition - held annually in the USA!

For the winning team this is a chance to attend a major festival competition, form international networks and have your film screened to a world-wide audience - our 2007 winner made it to the Top 20 World Best of 48 Hour Film Project and screened at the Cannes Film Festival!

The 2008 Brisbane 48 Hour Film Project has over $15,000 worth of prizes for the Top 3 films and Technical Award winners, judged by our panel of industry professionals.

AMERICAN TEEN is the heartbreaking and hilarious Sundance hit that follows the lives of four teenagers - a jock, the popular girl, the artsy girl and the geek – in one small town in Indiana through their senior year of high school.  We see the insecurities, the cliques, the jealousies, the first loves and heartbreaks, and the struggle to make profound decisions about the future.
